Mr. Lystad is a member of the Firm’s Technology, Entrepreneurial and Commercial Client Service Group, Public Policy and Government Relations Client Service Group, and Transactions Client Service Group.

As a corporate attorney, Mr. Lystad assists corporate clients at every stage of life, from business formation and capitalization through merger, sale or dissolution, with an emphasis on negotiating and drafting various commercial agreements (professional service agreements, intellectual property licensing agreements and technology outsourcing agreements), joint ventures and strategic alliances. His corporate practice focuses on privately held businesses, start-ups, and technology-related transactions.

In addition to his corporate practice, Mr. Lystad provides local governments, public and private companies, and business associations with regulatory and legislative representation in the State of Georgia.  Mr. Lystad’s regulatory experience includes representing clients in front of various regulatory bodies and state agencies, including the Department of Insurance, Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation, Georgia Board of Pharmacy, Department of Natural Resources, and Department of Community Affairs.

As an advocate, Mr. Lystad provides an array of government relations expertise to clients of the Firm.  Primarily, his efforts are concentrated on advocating his clients’ initiatives before every committee of the state legislature and executive branch.  Mr. Lystad is knowledgeable on issues relating to insurance, banking, transportation, local government funding and governance, health care funding and practice, telecommunications, contract and tort reform, lottery, solid waste management and disposal, economic development, natural resources and state budgetary processes.

Mr. Lystad received his B.S. degree from North Georgia College in 2002. Mr. Lystad received his J.D. from Mercer University School of Law in 2005, and was a member of the Mercer Law Review, Mercer Moot Court Board, Brainerd Currie Honor Society and Dean's List.
